SPECS GRADS GO TO WORK
The Employer Perspective

Entering the job market is where Specs grads bring the significance of our hands-on program to light. Students learn how to use the same equipment most employers use in the "real world" so they're ready to start the job as soon as they're hired.

Our objective is to provide the broadcast industry with a pool of up and coming new talent in all areas of the business. Therefore, feedback on your experiences with our grads is vital to maintaining a quality staffing service.

“I would like to share that my experiences with Specs grads have been wonderful! Our organization has 7 grads at this time and I am always willing to consider Specs Howard students as possible new hires. I just wanted to let you know that we have recently hired Peter Garrison as our afternoon drive personality and music director. Dick worked extensively to help me find the right individual and I think Pete is going to work out wonderfully. Pete told me it took him a while to get a position after graduation, but was able to get his foot in the door as a board op, then worked in promotions before he was finally able to see some air time with the morning show! We are excited by his determination to further his career in this tough business! Thanks to all of you who continue to produce good candidates through your program.”

Northern Star Broadcasting

“Your graduates are very enthusiastic, observant,
and have the ability to learn and apply new skills quickly. They were prepared to come in and display the technical skills they obtained at Specs. The employees are working out extremely well, and we look forward to advancing their technical skills here at The Word Network.”

Lewis Gibbs, Vice President,
The Word Network

“What a tremendous advantage it is to know that when I hire a Specs Howard graduate they can walk in and immediately go on-the-air and sound polished and professional.”

John Sebastian, Operations Director,
WABJ/WQTE

“When I assumed responsibility for Detroit’s All News radio station, I was surprised by how many of our anchors and reporters had started their careers by attending Specs Howard School. We rely on them as an on-going resource for
both experienced and entry-level individuals any time we have need of personnel.”

Rich Homberg, VP/General Manager,
