Studio Center in Farmington Hills is the place to be if you want to work in motion pictures, so Specs Howard School is going “on location” to offer you two exciting new hands-on workshops: Introduction to Film & The World of Post Production.
The new Specs Howard facility is in the heart of Studio Center -- the only Hollywood-style production studio lot currently operating in Michigan.
Since the State’s aggressive film incentive package was passed in 2008, Studio Center has become the place where Hollywood production companies come to shoot feature films and do business in Michigan.
In addition to hdstudios, a division of Grace & Wild, Inc., Studio Center is home to lighting supplier Detroit Power & Light, equipment rental company Fletcher Camera & Lenses, and television production company Thumbprint Entertainment.
Recent feature film work serviced by Studio Center resident companies includes High School, Stone, Meet Monica Velour, Demoted, Betty Anne Waters, Whip It, The Irishman, Cyrus, Gifted Hands, Intent, Steam Experiment and the ABC pilot Prince of Motor City.

Introduction to Film workshop will teach you the skills you need to land entry-level work in the film and TV production industry quickly. If you are a Specs Howard grad looking to expand your skills and explore new opportunities or simply want to change careers, this workshop is for you.
The The World of Post Production workshop is meant to be taken by students who have completed the film workshop or have previous non-linear editing experience. If you are a Specs Howard graduate, college graduate or industry professional, this workshop will take your skills to the next level and better prepare you for a career in post-production. We encourage students who successfully complete the workshop to pursue Final Cut Certification.
